Katrin Kabun

I am a textile designer, a doctoral student and teacher at the Estonian Academy of Arts, and a co-founder of Woola, a company that produces sustainable packaging. In my work, I especially appreciate the functionality, simplicity and carefully thought-out use of materials. In design research, I deal with the application of wool as a valuable renewable resource in modern product design. The research is based on a certain apparent opposition – the transfer of the properties of wool as an archaic material to the language of modern design. Also the search for means to apply the emotional and aesthetic values of wool and keep them relevant in the context of modern sustainable design and living environment.
